CIRO’s Office of the Investor is responsible for researching investor attitudes, behaviours and experiences, delivering investor education, bringing the voice of Canadian investors to CIRO’s regulatory activities and supporting the work of the Investor Advisory Panel.
This Year in Review showcases the activities and accomplishments of the Office of the Investor throughout the previous year.
CIRO’s inaugural three-year Strategic Plan identifies a key Strategic Objective to understand, inform and protect investors. During the past year, the Office of the Investor conducted CIRO’s first investor survey to guide and focus their efforts with the goal of providing an investor’s perspective. They also developed an awareness campaign for CIRO, delivering on key accountabilities outlined in the FY2025 Annual Priorities.
Year at a Glance
- Published the Investor Survey;
- Published guides for investors, tailored to retirement planning, youth, and newcomers to Canada;
- Published over 20 articles to support investor education;
- Participated in presentations and events geared to college and university students, retirees and newcomers to Canada;
- Consulted on CIRO policy initiatives;
- Executed educational campaigns for Financial Literacy Month, World Investor Week and Fraud Prevention Month;
- Developed awareness videos on Romance Scams and Finfluencers;
- Established new partnerships to deliver financial education and support financial health.
