Helena Gottschling

Ms. Gottschling is the former Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at RBC, where she was responsible for global Human Resources. She was also part of RBC’s Group Executive, responsible for setting the overall strategic direction of RBC—extending to more than 86,000 employees across the globe.

Ms. Gottschling joined RBC in 1985, holding progressively senior roles in retail banking, national office and human resources, which included posts in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto. As CHRO, Ms. Gottschling was responsible for all aspects of RBC’s global talent management strategy, including organizational effectiveness.

Over her 37-year career at RBC, Ms. Gottschling distinguished herself as a trusted advisor, a change champion, and a devoted employee advocate—leadership qualities that helped build an engaged workforce and position RBC as a top employer on a global scale.

Ms. Gottschling has a been a long-time supporter of Breakthrough T1D (formerly, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and currently chairs the board of directors. While at RBC, she was a co-chair and champion of RBC’s National Employee Giving Campaign, inspiring employees to go above and beyond in their personal donations to help Canadian communities prosper. She is also a board member of Plan International Canada, a former member of the Human Capital Policy Council, C.D. Howe Institute and past board member of The Mosaic Institute.

She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia.
