Michelle Khalili
Ms. Khalili is Managing Director and Head, Global Equity Capital Markets at Scotiabank. As a CIRO Board member from a large bank-owned dealer, Ms. Khalili provides extensive capital markets expertise.
She leads a team of professionals providing origination and execution of equity and equity linked transactions in Canada, the United States and Latin America as well as advisory practice on capital allocation and structuring.
Ms. Khalili has over 20 years’ experience, holding diverse and progressively senior roles in Investment Banking and Equity Capital Markets. Prior to joining Scotiabank, Ms. Khalili was on the Private Capital Investment Banking team at CIBC, leading natural resource coverage of pension funds, private equity and sovereign wealth funds. She also spent four years at Goldman Sachs as Managing Director and Head of Equity Capital Markets – Canada. In addition, Ms. Khalili spent 12 years in the Equity Capital Markets group at CIBC, working on the origination and execution of equity financings in Canada.
Ms. Khalili was a member of the Board of Directors for Women’s College Hospital for six years. She was a member of the Board of Directors for the Ontario Brain Institute and Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee. Ms. Khalili is past Chair of the 100 Women in Finance’s Committee in Canada. She also previously served as Vice Chair and Board member of IIROC, and as a member of its Human Resources and Pension Committee.
Ms. Khalili chairs the Equity Committee and is also the Executive Lead for the Scotiabank Women Initiative® for Global Banking and Markets. Ms. Khalili was recognized with an Industry Award for Leadership by Women in Capital Markets and has received the WCM Executive Coaching and Champions of Change Award.
She earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the University of Toronto and qualified for the Chartered Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst designations.
